The ‘Tidy up my Town’ project has children at its heart, encouraging the local community to take pride in their town centre by keeping it tidy, attractive and litter free.
We will focus on two aspects in the town centre of Stoke:
Engaging children from Stoke Minster School and the local community. Over six months children from the school will come into the town centre and visit the hub and participate in activities relating to the two focus areas, such as making posters, learning about recycling, or going on a litter-pick or planting in the flower beds. We will bring a fun element into a serious topic, for e.g. the children will be asked to design decals to brighten up litter bins to encourage their use. They will design posters for local shops and businesses and encourage them to display them in their windows. At the end of the project we will hold a litter-pick parade. The project will be brightly branded (using children’s designs) and highly visible. Children and accompanying adults will wear hi-vis vests when out in the town centre with the ‘Tidy up my Town’ designs. Children will lead the way and provide an example of how we can tidy up Stoke. |
